The people in the building

Our team

A small, experienced group who train dogs for a living. Not a rotating cast of front-desk staff.

Jesse San Miguel, Owner | Master Trainer | Aggression Expert at Canine Perspective

Co-Owner | Canine Wellness & Nutrition

Elizabeth San Miguel

A reactive-dog mom who understands the fear on the other end of the leash, because she's lived it. Her path here ran through rescue work, advocacy, and raising her own reactive dog, Luna. She finished Luna's training with Jesse and joined Canine Perspective full time in 2021 as a partner, and a wife. She leads the pack's wellness and retail side.

Carlito Burrito San Miguel, Chief Burrito Officer | Professional Treat-giver at Canine Perspective

Chief Burrito Officer | Professional Treat-giver

Carlito Burrito San Miguel

A dog trainer in the making. Burrito helps his Poppa give the dogs more exposure to toddlers, understands safe boundaries for all creatures, and takes his treat-giving duties extremely seriously.

Our extended team

The handlers with your dog all day.

Every handler is trained personally by Jesse, on slip leash, prong collar, and e-collar, so whatever training your dog already has gets reinforced rather than undone. Weekly staff meetings keep everyone current on every dog in the building. No rotating front desk, no guesswork.

  • Dog Handler

    Astrid Taboada

Dog mom to three. She joined Canine Perspective in 2021 after leaving a competing doggy daycare. Her favorite upgrades: not listening to barking all day, and bringing her own pack to work.

  • Dog Handler

    Nate Rodriguez

Our resident car guy, so if you break down near CP, call us. Trained as a mechanic, follows Chicago sports, and is most often seen around the city driving our daycare van.

  • Dog Handler

    Mariano Favela

Works our closing shifts. He makes sure the transport van is loaded correctly for drop-offs, mixes the boarding dinners, and knows which pups need a kiss good-night at tuck-in.

  • Dog Handler

    Yosselyn Rivadeneyra

The newest member of the team, here since April 2026, and the dogs took to her immediately. Her friends will tell you she's always up for an adventure.

Family-run since 2012

A real family, running a real facility.

That's not a marketing line. It's why the care here is consistent and the honesty is non-negotiable. When it's your name on the building, you don't oversell someone's dog.
