Coming Soon…

It's #WhatsInYourBowlWednesday y'all!
//
I’m back with another cheap and easy bowl hack. I’m sure everyone has heard it’s great to give your dog an egg every now and then but did you know you can give them the eggshell too?!
//
You saw my last cheap and easy hack where I used veggie leftovers from a (delicious) soup. If you’re making eggs tomorrow morning, save those shells! Life is getting expensive and this inflation is apparently here to stay. Save that money, honey!
//
Eggshells are an incredibly nutrient dense bowl booster to provide some extra calcium for our pups. Gotta make those bones nice and strong! Eggshells are also good for muscle regeneration and some studies show they can help prevent blood clots as well.
//
Now the kicker…Not one of our three dogs will eat eggshells! NOT ONE 🙄. They will lick around the shell to get the raw eggs and ignore the shell itself!
//
If your pup is the same, never fear! That’s what I’m here for. Just dry out your eggshells then crush (in a food processor, with a hammer, whatever!) and voila. Add a small scoop to their bowl and you’re in business, baby! I seal our eggshells in an airtight container and add it to their breakfasts every morning.
//
And no, I’m not worried about salmonella. Book a consultation with me (they’re free!) to find out why but I don’t let three letter agencies scare me away from giving my dogs a better and cheaper diet 😜.

The weather’s heating up which means I’m being swamped with tick questions! Let’s address a few things today and then you can book a consultation with me if you’d like the full scoop.
//
The first thing I tell my wellness clients to research is what the leading flea and tick preventatives DO. That’s it. Look into it. You’ll likely be shocked to discover they do NOT PREVENT DISEASE! 🤯
//
Whether it’s the chewable or the topical spread, these products use neurotoxins to kill ticks that bite your dog. So if a tick bites Luna, she might get Lyme. It’s possible. The most popular products on the market don’t stop the Lyme. Their goal is to kill the tick “before it can spread the disease”. Well…that’s not a guarantee. A tick can still latch on and become engorged (which is how disease spreads, FYI). So why are vets pushing these products when equally effective alternatives exist?
//
MONEY, HONEY! That’s why! 💸
//
Oh, and if you thought my casual use of the word neurotoxin was scary, you’re not wrong. That stays in your pup’s bloodstream and wreaks all sorts of havoc. But we don’t have time to get into that here. I also can’t get into my thoughts on year-round tick prevention when we live in a climate that drops to subzero temps. 🙄
//
Quick disclaimer! I have the time and energy to give our three dogs a holistic lifestyle. If that’s not a priority for you, THAT IS OKAY! I’m just providing information so our pack is well-informed because your vet isn’t evil, they just aren’t required to learn about alternative options. But don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for 😘. Remember what I always say: do what works best for your dog and your family.

Cheap AND easy?! Sign me up!
//
Jesse and I feed our dogs raw because we believe it’s the best diet for their lifestyles. But this is an awesome hack for kibble or fresh fed pups as well.
//
I made a huge pot of soup (thanks Chicago winters 🙄) and rather than composting or throwing away our scraps we give everything to our three dogs!
//
Meat fat and scraps are great but veggies are also not only biologically appropriate for dogs but an essential part of their natural diet! Meat tends to lead the narrative but a lot of well-learned canine nutritionists know canines are omnivorous carnivores which means you can and should load up the veggies!
//
You can steam cruciferous greens like kale and broccoli to ease your pup’s digestion but things like carrots or zucchini can be put right into the bowl!
//
Keep an eye on our feed for more tips or email us to schedule a complimentary nutrition consultation with me for something more personalized.

Cory San Miguel
Head of Bathing

Cory began working with Canine Perspective in the Fall of 2019. As his knowledge of dogs grew, he began to fully understand a dog’s perspective. Because of this knowledge he is able to handle dogs that other dog grooming facilities cannot. He has worked with all types of breeds and personalities.

With his 2+ years of dog handling experience, he decided to branch out Fall of 2021 for 1 year to gain knowledge and experience in the grooming world. With his dog handling experience he acquired the Head of Bathing title within two months. He saw a need for grooming of dogs who get turned away because of their difficult personalities and a need to guide other dog bathers/groomers in how to deal with these dogs. Cory also has great iinsight of what kind of products are suitable for each kind of dog.

With that being said, he is considered an expert dog bather and is confident in providing a high quality service for your dog.

Do your dog’s nails look like this? Unable to trim them? We’re proud to have Cory who has taken his handling skills and applied them to his bathing services allowing him to bathe and trim the nails of even difficult dogs.
//
You can book his services at Cory@CaninePerspective.com | Please note some dogs, like Bane above, may require the help of a second handler or trainer to work with them during the service. This will incur a separate fee, and in most cases, is only need the first few times.
