Canine Perspective Yelp review "Jesse is a truly amazing trainer! I adopted my dog Mowgli from a shelter in Belize where he had lived for about a year. Before that he had been a street dog from birth-6 months old and in that time was found with a rope embedded in his neck so deep he had to have surgery and was almost killed by it! When I got him I was told he was the sweetest dog with both dogs and people which was generally correct but when I took him to get evaluated at a Pet School it turned out he had some nervousness/aggression. The owner of that place told me that Mowgli was going to be WAY too difficult for me to manage (he's 27 pounds) and that I should consider giving him back... It was awful. I got a second opinion by way of Jesse and thank God I did! Although Mo still showed signs of aggression/nervousness, Jesse assured me it was nothing we couldn't correct together. Since working with Jesse for the last 8-10 weeks, Mowgli is the same amazingly sweet dog without any of the nervousness. The first and second sessions were tough and Mo was not having any of it, but now we work without any protective gear/muzzles and he is just amazing to watch. My friends truly can't stop talking about how well behaved he is and I couldn't have done any of it without Jesse!"
Canine Perspective Yelp review "Jesse was fantastic with my dog Nova! Nova was afraid of many big dogs to the point high pitch yelps and hiding under the bench. Just in general, she is anxious about some things. Jesse helped build up her confidence. She probably won't play with every big dog we meet but now she doesn't hide from them, she just ignores them. She is more confident and getting more so everyday. Jesse gave me the tools I needed to help my dog work through her issues. I would highly recommend working with him to help you help your dog."

Our dog was reactive towards both dogs and people on occasion and we already went through obedience training with another trainer which only scratched the surface. When I started looking for trainers who handle aggression, we found Jesse. After evaluating our dog, jesse was immediately able to get down to the root of the problem - which was our dog's energy levels. The goal with training was to keep his energy low and his mindset calm and passive. Jesse explained that a dog whose energy is all over the place tends to be impulsive and reactive, which our dog was, and that a calm dog is a passive and thinking dog. He hit the nail on the head. Our dog is doing so much better and we have the tools we need for life. Highly recommend. jesse really understands dogs and I see why his company is called Canine Perspective!"
Canine Perspective Yelp review "I came to Canine Perspective for training when I first rescued my chihuahua, Ricky, and still utilize their boarding services. Ricky had a lot of separation anxiety, was overly protective over me and his toys/crate, and was not potty trained despite being a year and a half old. At the end of training, I felt like we had made huge improvements in all these areas. Plus we have received additional visits as needed as new issues arose. Canine Perspective Yelp review "Another resident in our building recommended Jesse when we were searching for a training program for our puppy Walter a few months ago. Walter was exhibiting all of the normal puppy behaviors like jumping on people when they entered our home, refusing to sit or stay, nipping, and other puppyisms. Jesse's initial assessment was that we needed to dial down the activity level in Walter's brain through a series of obedience exercises so he'd become a better listener and then recognize who is boss. This was spot on. By the end of our first session, Walter was walking nearly perfectly on a leash. During the 9 week private course, learned to heel, sit, down, stay, come when called, go to place, automatic sit. Together, these skills help to keep your puppy grounded throughout each day and contribute to a more observant, less frantic demeanor over time. While watching Jesse work with your dog, you can actually see a transformation in a relatively short timespan. For some exercises, he was able to get Walter to succeed within just a few minutes. The whole course was impressive and as owners, we feel like we will be able to train more dogs in the future. Definitely recommend Canine Perspective!"

After moving to the city with our dog Simba, we started noticing some odd behavior that would make us second guess taking him out! We called Jesse and he provided us a with a free consultation on what needed to be done to address Simba's issues. We started training right away and after the first training we saw immediate results with Simba. Jesse gave us excellent tips and advice on how to work on certain things during the week. 8 weeks later, Simab is a new dog who listens, behaves, and is overall a lot happier! We loved working with Jesse and definitely recommend giving him a call to help with your dog! You wont regret it!"

Jess really turned our dog around. 8 weeks of training and we definitely saw results and now she's way better at behaving then in the beginning. Canine Perspective Yelp review "Jess has been great for our dog Layla. We came to Jess hoping he could help with leash pulling and some reactivity. After 8 weeks we came away with a whole lot more. A lot of his training also focuses on us and how we carry ourselves and react to Layla's behavior. We had done group classes and worked with other trainers before but Jess really understands the root of the behaviors and works with you to not only correct them but how to avoid them from returning. He is very easy to work with and always available by phone when we are not training. We have one more class left with Jess and have seen a huge improvement. In fact after just a few classes we moved past the leash pulling and reactivity to learning more advanced training moves."
Canine Perspective Yelp review "Working with Jess at Canine Perspective has literally changed our lives. Within just a few weeks we were noticing huge changes with our dog, Crosby. He is a rescue and had fear/anxiety around other dogs that would look like aggression. We had been through a group class and worked with 2 other trainers and nothing would stick. With Jess' support in teaching my husband and I how to manage the behaviors with his methods, we were able to learn from him and be able to implement the methods ourselves which really helped with making all the training stick. We are now able to ride the elevator in building without fear, go on walks without having reactions and even go to the dog park and play with other dogs. It's amazing! After working with our Standard Schnauzer Oli, we constantly hear "what a well behaved puppy!" Jesse's training has made our lives with Oli much more enjoyable. There is no more pulling on walks (now, so often we do off leash), jumping on people, running away or having to put him on a leash when guests come over. The best money we ever spent."

Canine Perspective Yelp review "We are so happy we decided to go with Jesse for help with our GSD, Ellie. During our first meeting, Jesse was able to identify the issue and truly tailored the training to meet our needs. When we started training with Jesse, Ellie was a super anxious and high energy dog - now she's still skittish but more confident and less hyper. After the first couple of classes, we were able to take Ellie out for a walk without being pulled in different directions; before, she would either run away or bark if she saw another dog during our walk...now, she won't react and is able to stay calm during walks. We knew that in order to properly train Ellie my wife and I had to learn a lot - Jesse was a great instructor - fun and non-judgmental. He's patient with us, and answered all of the questions we had. We now have a much better understanding of Ellie, and tools to continue practicing what we learned. If we ever need refresher courses or if any new issues come up, we will definitely be calling Jesse again!"

Our rescue pup, Porter, had anxiety being outside when we got him. He also had higher than normal puppy energy. Jesse worked with us to control his energy and ease him into being outside. Porter also learned quite a few tricks during his sessions with Jesse. Jesse is incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our (many) questions. Not only does Jesse have an answer, but he also explains why something is happening or why a training solution will work. Added bonus? Doug came to us as a scared, nervous pup who was un-trusting of humans. Doug would constantly growl at new people, did not walk well on a leash, and generally did not like when visitors came to the door. We started working with Jesse at Canine Perspective and would highly recommend anyone else to do the same! Jesse taught us that Doug needed rules and structure to help calm his nerves and help him feel safe. Canine perspective Yelp review "We rescued our pit bull, Joni, at around 5 months. She was a lovable snuggle bug half of the time, and the other half of the time she was hyper, anxious energy. Around 10-12 months, we noticed she was exhibiting some resource guarding behavior and enrolled her in your typical obedience training course recommended by the doggie day care we took her to at the time (positive reinforcement with treats, etc.) We worked on her behaviors using this method for a while, without seeing much improvement. Eventually, she was kicked out of her doggie day care because of her growing aggression toward other dogs. Shortly after this, she bit a friend and then a family member, and we finally realized we needed to do some serious training with her - something that would stick. We found Jess's information and contacted him immediately. After our free consultation with Jess, we knew right away that he knew what he was doing and would work hard to make sure we saw results with Joni. It only took the first session with Jess to see her behavior improve - it was almost a complete 180. Not only have her aggressive tendencies ceased, but she now walks leash-less and has 100% recall. Her hyperactivity and anxiety have subsided, and she is now such a happy and confident dog. We cannot recommend Jess's training services highly enough. He has taken the every day stress out of our relationship with Joni. We now feel 100% confident in her ability to listen and behave in any situation. Thank you, Jess!!!"
Canine Perspective yelp review our dog had a problem with table manners and jumping at people while they were eating. One lession with Jesse that stopped right away and we were able to have 15+ people at our house on Thanksgiving no issues.

Canine Perspective Yelp review "Jesse helped our little family out! Our 8 month old rescue received a 3yr old rescue brother the day before consultation and it wasn't a problem. They both learned about structure and discipline and about losing the bratty behavior because we are in charge. They walk really well and they have no problem running next to our bike. 9 weeks was just enough for our guys. Jesse listens and observes well and took his time explaining what he was teaching all of us. He answered all of our many questions. He's honest and very knowledgeable on all training questions. He even taught us how to trim our older one's nails because he was confused and scared. We have the tools for daily needs when using a collar.Heel,sit,come,place,stay, and all in different settings. Practice is everything!! We highly recommend Jesse, the Chicago Dog Whisperer!"
I came to Jesse with a rescued 70 lb. Amstaff that was left on the street in December of 2015. All things considered, and not knowing anything about where or whom she came from, she was a well-behaved dog. However, there was a biting incident while resource guarding a bone. I had mixed emotions about what my next steps should be, re-home, train, etc. Obviously I was very shooken up by the incident but despite what some people will tell you (FYI DO NOT listen to people in these incidences) I chose to rehabilitate the dog and train myself, as the great wise Cesar says. I learned SO very much from Jesse. We worked together for 8 weeks and the progress, even from the very first day, was remarkable. We did in-home training as my dog spends most of her time at the house and in the yard and this is where most of the problems seemed to be stemming as she works great with other dogs in environments that are not her home (territory). I trained using the electronic collar method. I purchased the brand Jesse recommended and he actually even helped me find a half price one on the internet that had never been used! I still train with it to this day. The approach Jesse took was thoughtful, careful, and confident and it helped me to become a better dog owner and learn how to take control of an anxious/aggressive situation. We addressed the main issues and taught me the tools to use should situations arise in the future, which they do from time to time. But I feel more confident addressing them using his training techniques. Jesse even makes himself available to his clients by phone and email for future questions or issues. I cannot recommend him enough!! If it wasn't for him I may just have listened to people and given my dog up whom likely would have been euthanized after a bite was reported by a pittie :( The thought makes me tear up to this day! Remember: no dogs are bad, they are just being animals. You only need to take the time and have the patience to better equip yourself with the tools on how to control the situation. Jesse will no doubt help you do just that. Rue and I have now been together for 2 years this December and going strong!! Everyday is a lesson :)
