Hello!

Jesse of Canine Perspective here. I know it’s been quite a while since I last posted, but things have gotten incredibly busy in the past year. Which, as I check my blog posts, the last blog I actually wrote myself was May 27thof last year so at least I’m a little early! The reason for my absence with the weekly posts is because the number of dogs I train has been doubling every year and this past year I was overwhelmed with some difficult cases.

As some of you are aware, the Canine Perspective team expanded with Maria taking on Admin duties to help ease my workload and she came at just the right time. Shortly after her arrival, things got a bit out of hand with consultation requests, daily phone calls, and the like. New clients keep coming and there are no signs of slowing down!

With all the momentum of new clients signing up and the increasing need for my services, in July of 2018, I decided to pursue a facility space as my next big endeavor in the growth of my business. It was a long and arduous process with doing market research, running through costs, looking for potential properties, coming to terms with the landlord, and then the back and forth of the lease agreement process. There were a lot of ups and downs during all this aside from just being busy as I was also working with private clients, but it all worked out in the end. Thankfully, I had a solid team working with me during the leasing process and I am very grateful for all their time and wisdom.

On April 19th I officially signed a lease for a 12,653 SF property located in the neighborhood of Logan Square. Just next to the parking lot of the AMC theatre on Western just south of Diversey. Despite the amount of work and time and how difficult it was to obtain a space, that was the easy part.

I’ve been joking with all my friends as the real hard part is…keeping it open!

Canine Perspective’s Structured Daycare and Boarding is slated to open August of this year pending approval from the City of Chicago. This venture will bring with it a number of drastic changes to how my business has operated in the years since it’s inception in May of 2013. Don’t worry, the highest quality of service is always a primary concern.

I’ve built Canine Perspective’s reputation through private in-home training, but with more and more clients signing up each year, it became clear I needed to expand or work myself to an early grave. We will wind down a bit on private in-home training, in the beginning, to allow me time to train my employees to handle dogs with the same care and quality that the Canine Perspective name has become known for.

I will also be able to offer several other services such as daycare, boarding, board & train programs, private in-facility training to make it more affordable for my clients outside of the city, group classes, socialization classes, and puppy classes in a space large enough to allow ample room to actually train despite the weather! I also plan on training new trainers to take over certain cases and classes so that I can focus on the bigger more difficult cases, all of course, in due time.

We ask for and appreciate your patience in the coming months while we make this transition. Maria is working very hard and is handling many duties as promptly as she can. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences that may arise as we’re in this phase of many unknowns and ask that you bear with us.

In the meantime, if you are not already, you can keep up to date with the facility by:

We will be taking the months between to market and advertise the move so you may see us at one of your neighborhood fests with a business I partnered up with in the Lakeview area, Bark By The Park. Please feel free to share any and all things Canine Perspective with your friends and family as the more people know about Canine Perspective’s upcoming facility space, the more sleep I get because I’m not stressing so much 🙂
